Lavinia’s artistic journey began in the Romanian countryside, where the natural beauty of her family’s vineyard and farm nurtured her affinity for organic themes. This early connection to the earth and its seasonal cycles laid the foundation for the natural motifs that flow through her work today.

At the age of 13, her world expanded when her family moved to France. Immersed in the cultural vibrancy of Paris, Lavinia was deeply inspired by the masterpieces housed at the Musée d'Orsay and other iconic museums. Her travels to London introduced her to the British Museum and the elegance of the Art Nouveau movement, further fuelling her creative ambitions.

In 1995, Lavinia relocated to Indonesia, and later to Malaysia in 1999, where she pursued formal education at the Centre for Advanced Design (CENFAD). Her move to Asia brought a fusion of Eastern influences to her art, drawing from the rich traditions, cultural confluences and symbolism she encountered. Despite earning an MBA from Southern Cross University in 2003, Lavinia continued to evolve as a self-taught painter, balancing her business career with her passion for art.

Now based in Kuala Lumpur, Lavinia paints part-time, merging her creative and analytical worlds. Her work has been featured at the Arts & Earth Festival at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre, where her L'aquaspiritus Collection was showcased, and at The Attic in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, where she held her L'Automne exhibition. Other notable exhibitions include solo showcases like An Evening of Art at the Ritz-Carlton (2014) and at the Meridian Hotel in conjunction with the National Day of Romania (2022), as well as group exhibitions such as Art Expo Malaysia (2016) and Cultural Confluences (2022).

Lavinia’s art reflects a confluence of influences—Western and Eastern traditions, spiritual and philosophical themes, and geometric forms. Her inspirations span the Realism and Impressionism of the 19th century to the avant-garde movements of Expressionism and Fauvism. Lavinia’s works explore the cycles of nature and humanity, often drawing from Greek mythology, philosophy, symbolism, metaphors, and spirituality.

Her early works depict autumnal landscapes, influenced by the natural beauty of her Romanian roots. Lavinia’s signature technique, which she named Circleism, emerged during this period. This technique, characterized by circular patterns, symbolizes the infinite cycle of life and nature in the universe. The meticulous use of circles reflects the continuity of life, from vineyard blossoms to the sea’s flowing depths.

Her pieces evoke a spiritual communion with nature, influenced by the seasonal transitions she witnessed in Romania and the vibrant colours and symbolism of Asian, Chinese, and Islamic cultures. Her work explores the fluidity of water, the vibrancy of autumn leaves, and the serenity of gardens in bloom, all through a lens of geometric harmony and spiritual resonance.

Artistic Statement or Philosophy

Artistic Statement or Philosophy

“My artwork is a reflection of my personality and inner world, deeply rooted in meditation, patience, and joyful exploration. The Circleism technique, inspired by the circle’s representation of infinity and its connection to the universe, embodies all space, time, matter, and energy — the fundamental forces that shape existence. As Einstein said, "everything is energy," and my work expresses this belief. Creating each piece requires immense patience, as a form of meditation, often taking months to complete. My art also reflects my character; the bright colors express my cheerful spirit, while nature’s organic beauty and the peaceful depths of the ocean inspire me to explore resilience, emotional release, and spiritual connection, offering viewers a reflection of their own growth.”

Artistic Statement or Philosophy

“My use of circles, or Circleism, symbolizes infinity and unity — an unbroken form connecting the entire world and universe. This technique reflects my belief in the interconnectedness of the universe as a form of energy. Each piece is built with patience and care, often taking months to complete. I prefer oils for their slow-drying properties, allowing me to layer and refine intricate circular patterns, achieving a mosaic-like effect. My color choices are inspired by nature’s organic forms — whether it's the vibrant hues of autumn, the warmth of summer, the depths of the ocean, or seasonal transformations. All bright colors as a whole convey my soul and my joyful spirit. Each piece embodies themes of healing, purification, and growth, influenced by spirituality, Greek mythology, and the natural world.”

Forward-Looking Statement

“As I continue my artistic journey, Circleism will remain a key element in my work, though the process may take years to complete for a solo exhibition. Beyond growing as an artist, I am also evolving spiritually, seeking personal awakening, deeper connections, and an understanding of the energy that flows through the universe. This path of self-discovery will shape my future works, embedding each piece with reflections of both artistic, spiritual growth, and universal energy, as I explore the infinite unity of life.”
